While the Hastelloy C276 round bar is well suited for general corrosion resistance based applications, the ASTM B574 specified rods are a low carbon based alloy that is very popular in the chemical processing industry.

Typically, chemical processing plants involve several operations that change the chemistry of these chemicals to the required end result. Another aspect of the chemical processing plant is the kind of operations taking place. The wide range of operations includes processes such as Hydrogenation, Dehydrogenation, Oxidation, Reduction, Hydrolysis, Hydration, Dehydration, Halogenation, Sulfonation, Nitrification to name a few.

Which means any metal used in chemical processing would be under several types of stresses. A unique feature of the DIN 2.4819 bar is that it can withstand various kinds of stresses. For instance, the Hastelloy c276 square bar has the ability to withstand oxidizing conditions at a temperature as high as 1900 °F.
